Active Parenting Program
Active Parenting Programs teach age-specific parenting skills: (1) The philosophy of discipline and alternatives to spanking and violence; (2) Nurturing – needs and self-esteem, developing empathy, ways to nurture others; (3) Communication – redirecting, ignoring, communicating age-appropriate expectations; (4) Establishing morals, values and rules; and (5) The relationships between anger, alcohol/substance abuse and violence/abuse.
First Steps is a parenting support and education program that is provided to families of newborns who give birth at Rockdale Medical Center. Our First Steps Coordinator offers new parents emotional support, current parenting information and referrals to vital community resources. First Steps strives to strengthen healthy parent/child relationships and to promote the healthy growth and development of children.
Newton/Rockdale Positive Parenting Program
Intensive, weekly home-based parenting programs for parents of children ages 0 -5. Our Family Service Coordinators help support young families by providing evidence-based parenting curriculum. We add layers of support by providing Life Skills Classes and Resources and Referrals (education, housing, job search, baby beds, toiletries, diapers and anything the family needs to become self-sufficient).
SafeCare is an evidence-based, 18-week, in-home parenting program that focuses on Child Safety, Child Health and Parent/Child Interaction for parents of children ages 0 – 5.
