About Us

About Us

Since 1989, Positive Childhood Alliance Rockdale/Newton (formerly Prevent Child Abuse Rockdale/Newton) has been dedicated to ensuring that all children are raised in a safe, loving, nurturing home free from all forms of abuse and neglect

Positive Childhood Alliance Rockdale/Newton is a community based, non-profit provider of prevention and intervention services in the community. We are committed to strengthening families and preventing child abuse and neglect by providing families with the information, support, and resources necessary to be successful in raising children.

We serve families in Newton & Rockdale County along with many outlying counties.

Programs offered free to the community

First Steps

An early intervention family support program that works with families whose babies are born at Piedmont Rockdale. It connects new parents with community resorces and provides parenting information that strengthens the family and promotes maternal and infant health. The First Steps Program offers Car Seat Safety Classes and Safe Sleep Classes.

Educational Support Program

Provides an Educational Support Coordinator who serves as a liaison between families and their child’s teacher, and Student Success Coaches who work one-on-one with students each week. (We are working hard to help children get back on track after getting behind in their studies as a result of the pandemic). This program strengthens family engagement while providing educational supports, advocacy, mentoring, resources, and referrals. (English & Spanish).

Family Success Center

Provides concrete resources to families with whom we are working at local elementary schools through our Educational Support Program, who need assistance. We provide parents with in-home parenting programs and access to our Family Success Center. We engage families with free Family Fun Days in their neighborhoods with music, bouncy houses, face painting, and hot dogs and hamburgers.

East Metro Plan of Safe Care

A family-centered prevention plan designed to promote the safety and well-being of birthing parents and their infants with prenatal substance exposure. East Metro Plan of Safe Care can strengthen protective factors, promote healthy development, and prevent child welfare involvement or out-of-home placement through connections to parenting education, safety guidance, early intervention, and wraparound resources and services.

Rockdale & Newton Parent Support Program

An intensive, weekly, in-home, evidence-based parenting program serving parents of children aged 0 -5 years for 3 – 6 months. Services include case management, life skills, resources & referrals, advocacy, mentoring, and educational supports.
